Princess Twilight Elizabeth Rebecca Sparkle (Sunday, 11th January 1998 to Wednesday, 11th August 2032) is the central main character of the TV show My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. She is a female unicorn pony who transforms into an alicorn and becomes a princess in Magical Mystery Cure. She is also the daughter of Twilight Velvet and Night Light, the younger sister of Shining Armor, sister-in-law to Princess Cadance and paternal aunt to Flurry Heart.
At the beginning of the series, she and Spike, her best friend and assistant, move from Canterlot to Golden Oak Library in Ponyville to study the magic of friendship, in Twilight's Kingdom - Part 2, she gains her own castle: the Castle of Friendship and gains the title Princess of Friendship representing the element of magic.
Before becoming a princess, she regularly sends friendship reports to Princess Celestia. In Owl's Well That Ends Well, Twilight adopts a pet owl named Owlowiscious. As of The Last Problem, she is the ruler of Equestria.
Twilight dies on 25th November 2020 at the age of 23 after being fatally killed by the sinister Canadian alicorn Holly Westlake and was buried at Ponyville Cemetary. After 20 years of death, she is revived by Jacob Wilde and then dies again on 11th August 2032 at the age of 34 involving the same case, but murdered by Cozy Glow, Lord Tirek, Queen Chrysalis and Shuriki. In addition, her friends and the alicorn princesses die during the war as well.
Her twin sister known as Sci-Twi becomes the temporary antagonistic character in the 2015 film My Little Pony: Equestria Girls – Friendship Games. She also makes her return as the main antagonist in the MLP: TYT x Jake and the Never Land Pirates film series (depending on the film) in an attempt to threaten Sunny Starscout and her bandmates.

Twilight Sparkle lives in Canterlot until Princess Celestia sends her to Ponyville. Accompanied by Spike, Twilight checks the town's preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration and meets the rest of the main characters. The celebration is interrupted when Nightmare Moon, Celestia's nemesis, returns to power and threatens to bring eternal night to Equestria. Twilight and the rest of the Mane 6 discover the Elements of Harmony and use them to transform Nightmare Moon back into Princess Luna. Princess Celestia gives Twilight permission to remain in Ponyville to study the magic of friendship.
Throughout the show, Twilight learns about the trials and rewards of friendship, periodically sending friendship reports to Princess Celestia. On rare occasions, Twilight and her friends work together to defeat powerful villains such as Discord, Queen Chrysalis, King Sombra and Lord Tirek.
In the episode Magical Mystery Cure, Twilight completes an ancient unfinished magic spell with her deep understanding of friendship. Princess Celestia tells Twilight that she is ready for the next stage of her life and Twilight transforms into an Alicorn and gains the title of princess.
Princess Twilight Sparkle becomes the Princess of Friendship in the season 4 episode Twilight's Kingdom - Part 2. In the season 9 finale The Last Problem, she is crowned Equestria's new ruler, taking Celestia and Luna's place when they retire.
In the film The Race to Equestria, Twilight dies on 25th November 2020 due to a murder case by Holly Westlake and revived by a human being named Jacob Wilde 20 years later. However, as of the film Prince Jacob Wilde, she dies again on 11th August 2032 involving the same case, but has been done by Shuriki, Cozy Glow, Queen Chrysalis and Lord Tirek, subsequently followed by Cadance, Celestia, Luna and her friends, causing Jacob to rule Equestria after the 9 mares die.
Jake and the Never Land Pirates[]
In the film The Quest for Equestria, the Mane 6 and Spike are turned to obsidian statues by sinister sorceress Shuriki and was brought to the abandoned Castle of the Two Sisters in order to rule Equestria unrightfully. After the warriors are freed by Jake, Izzy, Cubby, Sunset Shimmer and the convoy, a confused Princess Twilight says that the old Disney Junior TV series Jake and the Never Land Pirates does not make sense to her.
