Sunset Belinda Olivia Stephanie Shimmer, commonly known in German as Sonnenuntergang Schimmern, is a female unicorn pony-turned-human and a main character in the Equestria Girls franchise, temporarily appeared as the main antagonist in the first Equestria Girls film. She represents the Element of Forgiveness.
However, as of the film Riding On a Sleeper Train, Sunset dies at the age of 55 due to a head-on car crash with lead vocal singer Adagio Dazzle and has been replaced with Liezel, Hacky Zak's co-worker at Papa's Paleteria, playing her role as a rhythm guitarist and a backup vocal singer.
Portrayers[]
Rebecca Shoichet previously played Sunset for both her singing and talking voice followed by the character Apple Dumplin in Strawberry Shortcake's Berry Bitty Adventures and the singing voices of Twilight Sparkle (both pony and Sci-Twi), but from 2020 and above, Maren Morris is her singing voice and Emma Stone is her talking voice.

Throughout the Equestria Girls and Sofia The First film series, Sunset has a strong desire in speaking multiple languages upon travelling to Europe such as Dutch, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese and Spanish during summer vacation.
